Iziane is a 6’0” guard/forward for the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream. Originally from the Brazilian state of Maranhão, Iziane began playing for the WNBA’s now defunct Miami Sol in 2002. Besides Miami and Atlanta, she has also played for the Phoenix Mercury and Seattle Storm. Iziane is a consistent presence on the Brazilian women’s national basketball team where she has competed in the Olympics and the World Championships. In a WNBA playoff game in September of this year, she scored 30 points in a game, the highest single game playoff total for a Brazilian basketball player in the NBA or WNBA, besting Leandro Barbosa’s 27 points in a 2007 Phoenix Suns game against the LA Lakers. Marques has a career scoring average of 13.6 points per game and led her Atlanta Dream to the 2011 WNBA Finals where they lost to the Minnesota Lynx.
