Following up on our announcement on October 29th of the participation of AMNB in a session of the Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) on November 1st in Washington, DC in which the theme was to be policies created specifically for black women, due to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, AMNB released the following statement:
Hurricane Sandy, a meteorological phenomenon that has devastated part of New York and the East Coast of the United States, canceled flights that would bring members of the AMNB to Washington, D. C to participate in a session on the subject of black women at the headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS). A hearing was scheduled for Nov. 1 and would occur during the 146th session of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR).

The OAS issued a statement stating that several hearings had to be rescheduled due to Hurricane Sandy. The organization regrets the inconvenience caused by changes in schedules.

The expectation is that the AMNB will participate in the next session on the situation of black women at the next hearing of the IACHR which is expected to be in March of 2013.
