Black personalities of Ponta Grossa were honored during a session of the House of City Councilors
Until next Friday (21), the city of Ponta Grossa, in the Campos Gerais region of Paraná, will present various activities related to black culture. It is the 1st Municipal Week and Black Consciousness and Combat of Racism – which was established by city ordinance in April 2014 – to celebrate the Day of Black Consciousness, on November 20th, which marks the death of Zumbi of Palmares.

During the program, which started on Monday (17), fifteen personalities of Ponta Grossa were honored in a session at the City Council Chamber. Honorees occupy in various functions in the city.
The week continues, this Tuesday (18), with a workshop of making of Makala, that is an African board game made with seeds. The course will be at 2pm at the Culture Center and has free entry. Later, at 7pm, journalist Emerson Carneiro will conduct a lecture at the Escola Estadual Ana Divanir Boratto (Ana Divanir Boratto State School), on the theme ‘O negro e a mídia’ (Blacks and the media).

On Wednesday (19), an independent group of musicians will perform the scenic concert ‘Morena do Mar’, 8pm, at the Auditorium B of the Cine-Teatro Opera. Although the presentation is only for guests, the show intends to divulge Afro-Brazilian culture. The repertoire combines compositions of popular songwriters Vinícius de Moraes, Toquinho and interpretations of (famed singer) Clara Nunes songs, always with the theme on the sea. The presentation will also be made on Thursday (20) at 7pm at Faculdade Secal.
A complete schedule of the 1st Week of Black Consciousness and Combat of Racism will be available later on Tuesday in the Fundação Municipal de Cultura website.
