Although her real name was Maria das Graças Jovita Correia da Silva, she made history under the pseudonym of Anna Davies, becoming the first black female journalist on Brazilian television in 1972. Davies was born in the Caratinga, Minas Gerais and would become a journalist in Minas Gerais for TV Globo where she would remain until 1977. Davies would go on to work for other television networks such as TVE, Bandeirantes and SBT before leaving television for radio in 1979. On the radio, she has worked for Rádio Nacional, Continental, Carioca and most recently as host of the morning show “Café das Dez” on Rádio Bandeirantes 1360 AM in Rio de Janeiro.
