Taís Araújo: “Marriage is a daily exercise. One day we love each other, the next we want to kill each other.”
Taís Araújo, who has played a multitude of characters in her successful career, portrays the maid Maria da Penha in the novela Cheias de Charmes and is living a moment of fulfillment in her career as well as in her personal life. Her eight-year marriage to popular actor LázaroRamos is going very well with the addition and growth of their first child, João Vicente, or Jovi (as they call him), 10 months old.
The actress is keen to emphasize that Lazarus helps a lot with the baby. “Wow, Lazarus knows how to do everything, and he helps a lot. Marriage is a daily exercise. One day we love each other, the next, we want to kill each other. But it is a valid choice. Would I get married again? With the same husband, yes.”
During the chat, Taís, who has already broken paradigms on television for being the first black protagonist of a prime timenovela, talks about playing a maid for the first time. “My concern is being a good character.” The actress also revealed other “firsts” in her life.
Some highlights include:
On her current character:
“I don’t mind playing a maid. My concern is being a good character.”
On the first time she had sex:
“It was great, but weird, because of the mechanics of the act” (laughs).
The full interview with Taís Araújo is featured in the May issue of the Brazilian edition of Marie Claire magazine, on newsstands in Brazil since April 30.
